FINISHING POTS

How do i finish or paint my pots at home?

CLAY PIECES CAN BE TAKEN AWAY FROM OUR THROWING SESSIONS AND FINISHED AT HOME

  • Leave in a warm dry place for at least 4 days.
  • Paint with any colours you have at home for example ready mixed children's paints, emulsion, gouache, acrylic etc.

  • You can also varnish with any type of lacquer or varnish or watered down PVA glue. The best result is obtained by two coats of yacht varnish.

  • All of these surface layers will help to make your pot last, but it won't be waterproof so keep it carefully in a dry place.

  • If you know someone who has a kiln to fire your pot you can tell them it is a general buff earthenware/ stoneware clay for the purposes of firing.
